Rising Up
With you and Save the Children in her corner, Shehab*, a 16-year-old Syrian refugee, has fought her way to a whole new life.
Born with a disability, she used to be the target of relentless bullying. It forced her out of school at Za'atari refugee camp. Everything changed when she found the Adolescent Girls Empowerment Centre. It's a rare girls-only space where 250 girls learn about everything from art to yoga to - in Shehab's case - boxing.
Watch Shehab in action in our amazing video below.

Daniela's story
Daniela lives with her family on a beautiful island in Vanuatu. She loves school, her brother JoJo and riding her BMX. But there is a dark side to life here – the increasingly intense cyclones that Daniella has seen flatten houses in her village and wipe out a whole season worth of crops in a matter of hours.
We’re helping to fund an initiative that came from the community to preserve the food they harvest, where people grow vegetables in a shared garden. The veg is then solar-dried, vacuum packed and stored at the village church – with Daniela’s parents Kaltang and Janet responsible for key stages of the solar-drying process.
So now, when hard times hit, everyone has proper food stored away. “If a cyclone comes, we already have food in the storeroom,” explains Daniela.
