Christmas Jumper Day is a fun way to get everyone in the Christmas spirit and fundraise for a fantastic cause!

Hundreds of schools across the UK already celebrate Save the Children’s Christmas Jumper Day every year. This year, why not be one of them?

Find out more about Christmas Jumper Day 2022 and how everyone in your school can get involved.

Double the Funds

You couldn’t pick a better year to get involved because the UK government has promised to match all donations made between 1 December and 1 March. Double the funds, double the fun! All of this ‘match funding’ will go to an amazing cause - helping more than 200,000 mums and babies in Kenya. So, for example, instead of being able to train one health worker to provide vital care for babies at home, for every £75 raised, we can train two!

Double the fun

Whether your school has been supporting Christmas Jumper Day for years or you’ve never taken part before, it’s time to get planning so everyone at your school can join in the fun.

Remember, Christmas Jumper Day is officially on Thursday 8 December, but if that day doesn’t suit feel free to pick a day that does.

Raising money this Christmas Jumper Day is twice as important as ever before. So here are some ideas to take the ‘double the funds, double the fun’ theme and run with it.

Doing the business

You could approach local businesses to see if they’d be up for matching the funds your school raises. Reach out to parents, carers and the wider school community to see what interest you can generate!

Double playtime!

As an extra treat on Christmas Jumper Day, why not let pupils enjoy a double morning playtime? Yes, we know that means extra playground duty, but it is for a good cause!

Double team points!

Whether you use a behaviour or achievement reward system, or whether you break the children into teams or ‘houses’, you could give them the chance, for one day only, to earn ‘double points’. They’re bound to be excited about the chance to get closer to that winners’ trophy or end-of-term film reward.

Double desserts!

Yes, it’s not something we’d encourage every day – but how about just this once? Maybe pupils who have school meals could be treated to a second helping of whatever dessert happens to be on the menu, on whichever day you celebrate Christmas Jumper Day.

Double Christmas Jumper Day!

OK, it’s extreme but if you really want to embrace the whole ‘double’ theme, you could go the whole hog and let pupils wear their Christmas jumpers for two days instead of one. Maybe they could swap jumpers with a friend for the second day?

How will you double the fun on Christmas Jumper Day 2022?

We hope to have given you some starting points, but we know you’ll have loads of great ideas of your own. And why not ask the pupils? They’re bound to have some (whacky) ideas, too!  Or reach out to parents and carers and the wider school community and see how they want to get involved.

Remember, it doesn't matter how or when you celebrate Christmas Jumper Day. What counts is getting the everyone involved, making sure no one is left out, and letting everyone know about it in plenty of time for them to prepare.

Enjoy! And don’t forget to let us know how you doubled the fun(ds) after the event!
